Efren, aka "Fenny", was like a brother to me. We hung out together since the sixth grade. He was a funny guy, he use to pick me up every morning, during our high school years. He looked much older than what he was, so consequently, he's the one who would buy our beer at lunchtime. Then after lunch we had choir, and we'd be singing away. I remember all the football we played in the streets. I have so many memories of my dear friend. I regret not staying in touch with him these last years, I know he went through some difficult times. I'm going to miss you my dear friend. My condolences to your friends and family. Rest in peace brother.

Efren and I went to Cedar Grove elementary, Riverside High school and UTEP together. He was a true friend. Efren loved his blue Camaro that he bought when he worked at Tops & Trousers in Cielo Vista Mall. He was funny, alot of girls liked him, he was smart, he was a good athlete but most of all he was loyal to his friends. I now live together n California but it's funny how I had been thinking about Efren and some of my old friends. It's sad that a few of them have passed away....my brother Mike Imai, Manny Gaxiola, Richard Tinajero and now Efren. I miss them all and I will remember them forever. Rest in Peace my friend. One day we will all meet again.

Efren and I go back since the early 80s when he used to work for Grantree furniture. Grantree was a furniture company much like Cort is today. Over all those years, we shared a lot of events together with the El Paso Apartment Association. For those of you who really knew Efren you know that he was a giant in the industry and a true friend Of the association. May you rest in peace my dear friend, we love you and will miss you.

I met Efren from The furniture company since the early 80’s. Our babies were small then, but our children ended up in the same high school and became friends. Last time I saw him in El Paso we shared stories about our kids in college. I’m saddened to hear about Efren passing. Efren was always so kind, caring and loved everything in life. Efren was an amazing family man. It’s not every I meet people like Efren. He will always be remembered and loved by so many people. My prayers for all his family, Rip Efren. You are now in heaven with your son. BW. San Antonio Tx.

I had the pleasure of working with Efren for 17 years at Cort.
He was a mentor, friend and great boss. He was funny, and we enjoyed having lunch together often. He loved his family ❤️ more than anything and spoke about them often.
He would tell me that one day when he retired we would miss him. The truth is once he did the store was never the same without him. Rest in peace jefe as I would call him.
My sincere condolences to Sandra, Efrencito and the entire Ortega family. Gone but never forgotten.

I worked for/with Efren at CORT for 10 years. He was a great boss and even greater friend! Will always remember our laughs as he was funny too! Too many to mention, one especially when we drove to Alamogordo when he first got his dream Jag and he got a speeding ticket, he was hilarious 😂!
