Emma F. Castro

Emma Castro entered eternal life peacefully on October 17, 2025. Emma was born June 3, 1944 in Encarnación, Jalisco, México to Jose and Juana Franco. She is preceded in death by her loving and ever doting husband of 41 years Pete Castro, sister Marta Franco and Uncle Francisco Perez. She is survived by her daughters Imelda (Mike) Thompson and Teresa Castro. She is also survived by her grandchildren, whom she adored, Chynna and Ethan Thompson. Mourning her loss are her sister Josie Franco Alvarado, brother Chacho Franco (Licha), Adriane and Joe Fierro, the Castro and Franco families, and the Presa Group.

Emma graduated from Jefferson High school in 1962. She obtained her United States Citizenship in 1968. She worked at Industrial Uniform Services for many years until she went back to college and obtained her Bachelor’s of Education in 1984 (within three years) whilst, making the Deans List. She was a teacher with YISD at Tierra Del Sol Elementary and other elementary schools within the district throughout her pedagogical career. Emma loved to go to see plays at the Plaza Theatre with the Presa Group and loved her monthly breakfast meetings with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and appreciated scenic views. For those that were lucky enough to have known Her knew that she had an infectious laugh, quick wit and a sense of humor that brought joy and smiles to everyone. Her compassion and strength were unmatched. She never hesitated to offer her advice and help when asked. From finances to legal matters she was there to help, guide, and share her wealth knowledge (which she acquired through her love of reading and life experiences). Although we will never hear your infectious laugh again, it will echo in our hearts and our souls. We will continue to carry your compassion, strength and humor with us. We know that you are with Dad once again laughing (hysterically, we are sure of that) and celebrating being in the company of family who have passed prior. May you rest in eternal peace. Pallbearers will be Michael Thompson, Ethan Thompson, George Castro Jr., Jaime Castro, Adrain Castro and Joe Fierro. Honorary pallbearers are George Castro Sr., Eddie Castro and Lionel Nava. Services are entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 N. Carolina.

A visitation for Emma will be held Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A rosary will occur Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 7:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A funeral mass will occur Monday, October 27, 2025 at 9:30 AM at St Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N Mesa St, El Paso, Texas 79902. A graveside service will occur Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery East, 12400 East Montana, El Paso, Texas 79938.
