Born on November 17, 1945, in Salinas, CA, Eve was the youngest of eight children born to Timoteo L. Toloy and Mary H. Gomez. A graduate of Salinas High School, she dedicated over 40 years to the U.S. Civil Service. Eve shared 31 years of marriage with her devoted husband Alfredo Rey (2-09-2024).
In her early forties, Eve discovered a lifelong passion for softball. As a proud member of an all-women’s senior softball team, she formed some of her most cherished friendships. Her dedication to the sport earned her a treasured 15-year ring from the Huntsman World Senior Games. Eve continued to play softball until shortly before her passing.
Eve’s constant companion in later years was Belle (12-29-2024), her beloved Chihuahua. The pair were inseparable, and it wasn’t uncommon to see Eve pushing her dog buggy in and out of stores, with Belle riding comfortably, front and center.
Eve was preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Rey; parents Timoteo L Toloy and Mary H Gomez; and siblings Timothy Toloy, Robert Toloy, Mary Lagasca, Mary Helen Enosaran, Gloria Jones, and Grace Stevens.
Eve is lovingly remembered by her children Donna Garcia (Kevin Reilly), Beth Cantrell (Randy), Lisa Kneafsey (David), Anita Toloy, and Paul Bamonte (Janny); sister Irene M Morris; grandchildren Felicia Santos, Nikolas Shirley, John P Shofner, Jr, Daniel Shofner, Ashley Buchanan, Ryan Kneafsey, Colleen Capshaw, Cecilia Sarabia, Adrian Sarabia, Isaac Robles, and Savannah Bamonte; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11:30AM, at Martin Funeral Home, 128 N Resler Dr, El Paso, TX, 79912. Interment of ashes will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
