El Paso, Texas — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Francis Guy Malcolm, who passed away on May 4, 2026, at the age of 87. Even after a long and meaningful life, no amount of time with him ever felt like enough.
After honorably serving in the United States Marine Corps, Francis dedicated 21 years to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, retiring as a Detention Sergeant. He earned the respect of those who served alongside him through his strength, dependability, and compassion, and devoted his life to guiding and helping others.
But beyond his career, Francis was first and foremost a family man.
To his family, he was everything. To his grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather — he was a protector, provider, role model, and safe place. His great-grandchildren looked up to him as an example of strength and love.
Anyone who knew Francis knew his stubbornness, sarcastic humor, dramatic eye rolls, and constant complaints — all things that became part of the memories we now treasure most. Beneath his tough exterior was an incredibly kind and loving heart.
We will forever miss his laughter, his stories, the way he secretly fed the dog steak, and how he proudly offered everyone his homemade moonshine. The ordinary moments shared with him became unforgettable because of who he was.
Francis was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Malcolm; mother, Catherine Malcolm; wife, Ann Malcolm; Sister, Patricia Zagorski and sons, Guy Malcolm, Brian Malcolm, Antonio Malcolm, and Dominic Malcolm.
He leaves behind a loving family, including Teresa Malcolm, Regina Chavez, Vincente Malcolm, countless grandchildren and great grandchildren, with many friends, extended family members, and former colleagues.
His legacy lives on through the people he loved, protected, and inspired throughout his life.
What a blessing it was to know him. What a privilege it was to be loved by him.
Though our hearts are broken, we will carry his memory with us always — in every story shared, every laugh around the table, and every lesson he left behind.
Rest easy, Dad and Grandpa.
You were deeply loved and will be missed forever.
