Francisco R. Porras

Frank was born on September 26, 1934 in San Andres, Chihuahua, Mexico where he was raised. He was the youngest of two brothers and five sisters. He came to the United States on a scholarship to Brigham Young University and later transferred to Texas Western (now known as UTEP). While still in college, he fell in love with a beautiful woman whom he married, Gloria, and they had six children together. Eventually, they were blessed with 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. In 1967, Frank began his career at American National Insurance Company, where he rose to the level of district manager before retiring in 1999.

Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gloria Porras of El Paso, and their six children: Mario Porras, and his wife, Cathi, of El Paso; Jorge Porras, and his wife, Melina, of San Diego; Federico Porras, and his wife, Claudia, of El Paso; Mike Porras, and his wife, Aurora, of El Paso; Yvonne Porras of El Paso; and Virginia Porras Braden, and her husband, Paul, of Dallas. In addition to his grandchildren and great grandchild, Frank is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be recited in his honor on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 10:00AM at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, Texas. A funeral mass will be held immediately following at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar, El Paso, Texas at 12:00PM.
