Gilbert Lewis Smith, 45, passed away in El Paso, Texas on September 6, 2012. Lewis was born in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of J.D. Andrews and Edna Smith. A soldier in the U. S. Army, he served his country honorably in the Persian Gulf War, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lewis was a proud American, a photographer, a musician, and a baker, but most importantly a friend, brother and loving husband. He is survived by his wife Berta Morales - Smith, two brothers; J.D. Patton and David Smith, and 1 sister Valerie Thompson. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Harding-Orr & McDaniel Chapel at 7:00 pm., officiated by Chaplain Sam Faraone. An inurnment will take place on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
