Humberto Lechuga Sr.

Humberto "Beto" Lechuga Sr. lost his courageous battle with cancer May 19, 2010 at his home in El Paso, Tx. He was born Oct. 24, 1955 in Juarez, Mexico to Mr. & Mrs. Rudolpho Lechuga and was raised by his grandmother Maria Dolores Trevizo. He is survived by his wife Lisa Christy, son Humberto "Herbie" Lechuga Jr. (wife Adriana), daughters Erica Lechuga and Jessica Lechuga, granddaughters Vicki, Jolene, & Jazmine, brothers Ruben Lechuga and Armando Lechuga and sister Lorena Carnera. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother. After becoming a U.S. citizen he served 20 years in the United States Army from 1974 and honorably discharged in 1994. After retirement he was employed by the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). While working for AAFES he deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq for three years as a civilian manager providing store supplies to the troops. He later went to work for Halliburton with the intention of deploying with Halliburton. For those who truly knew Beto he will always be remembered for his generous heart and dedication to hard work. Heartfelt thanks go to the doctors and staff at WBAMC Oncology, Texas Oncology, and CIMA Hospice. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by visitation until 9:00 on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Funeraria del Angel Kaster-Maxon and Futrell Chapel, 8817 Dyer St., El Paso, TX. To honor and celebrate his life, a graveside service will be held at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Services entrusted to Funeraria del Angel Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home, 8817 Dyer St. El Paso, TX 79904.
