

Ima D. Tarpley, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2010. She was born February 11, 1921, to Robert and Lizzie Hood in Sidney, Ark. She was the fourth of six children. After being a homemaker for 15 years, Ima completed her bachelor’s degree at UTEP and then taught at Crosby Elementary for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her husband, Udell R. Tarpley, who was a counselor at Irvin High School. Ima is survived by her son Ray Tarpley and wife Judy of Lubbock; and daughters Danise Larmore and husband Lloyd of Taylorsville, NC; and Rosane Hassler and husband David of El Paso. Ima also is survived by eight grandchildren: Christy Bailey (Kris and three children); Jeremy Tarpley; Adam Larmore (Katie and four children); Amy Davis (two children); Jason Larmore (Yogi and one child); Jeff Hassler (Lyric and two daughters of Richmond, VA); Bryan Hassler ( Kelly and son of Dallas);
and Mary Hassler of Naperville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM Monday at Coronado Baptist Church, 501 Thunderbird. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Tarpley Scholarship at Irvin High School, 9465 Roanoke, El Paso, TX 79924, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 4687 N.
