James Edward Sims Jr.

Services will be held at Martin Funeral Home East in El Paso on Saturday, June 5th at 1 pm with visitation on Friday, June 4th from 5 – 7 pm with a rosary at 6 pm. A private burial held in Sheldon, Iowa.

Jim was born in El Paso, TX on September 15, 1957; he was the son of James Edward Sims, Sr. and Peggy Joyce (Marcy) Sims. He attended Socorro High School where he played football and baseball. Following graduation, he attended UTEP where he graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

On April 25, 1996, he was united in marriage with Renee Van Meeteren in Las Vegas, NV. Jim & Renee made their home in El Paso, TX and raised their two boys James and Christopher.

Jim worked for Vishay for over 34 years as an engineer and traveled all over the world, even living for a period of time in Israel. He recently retired at the end of November 2020 and then was hired for contract work.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two children James and Christy Knaub (fiancé) and Christopher. Jim is preceded in death by his parents James & Peggy Joyce Sims, his sister Janet Sims and in his in-laws Art and Adaline Van Meeteren.
