Jane Pofahl Combs, age 75, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Jane was born in Orange, California, but she and her parents, Walter E. and Lilia Rosemond Pofahl, moved back to El Paso when she was a baby. She went to Crockett Elementary School and Austin High School (graduating in 1964), and then went on to study biology at the University of Texas at El Paso. In May 1968, she married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) William Combs, who was from Omaha, Nebraska, but was an active duty soldier at Ft. Bliss when they met. They were active members of the Church of St. Clement, singing in the Adult Choir and also serving as leaders of the Youth Choir. During the course of their marriage, they had 4 children and lived in both El Paso and Huntsville, Alabama. When Bob passed away in 1994, Jane and children moved back to El Paso from Huntsville where she continued to live until her passing. Jane played both the piano and the harp, loved classical music, wrote poetry, was an avid reader, and crossword puzzle solver, did needlepoint, baked delicious home-made breads, and was very appreciative of a good joke or pun. She was pre-deceased by her parents, and her husband Bob. She is survived by her 4 children, Dorothy Lilia Combs of El Paso, Patricia Ruth Combs of Austin, TX, Robert (Robbie) Combs and his wife Michelle, and Arthur Christopher Combs. She is survived by her grandson, John Geers, her brother, Hector Muela (Stella), and her sister Irma Brown (Will), plus many cousins, nephews and nieces. She will be missed. A gravesite service will be held on August 6, 2021 at 1:00pm at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, where she will be interred next to her beloved Bob.
