El Paso, Texas – Javier “Pops” Arturo Carpintero Jr. 59, beloved son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend was called home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Pops was born in El Paso, Texas to Xavier and Elisa Carpintero. He attended Jefferson High School leaving early to enlist in the United States Marine Corp. to proudly serve his country. While in the Marines, he began his training at Camp Pendleton, CA. He was stationed at Okinawa, Japan and Puerto Rico. He was a mechanic for many years specializing in transmissions, a trade he learned from dad. He also worked as a truck driver and had the opportunity to travel and visit states across the United States.
He loved and was proud of his sons, Steven and Xavier III, and his grandchildren. He was always available to help mom and dad, especially after dad retired. Every summer Pops made sure mom had her favorite ice cream, a banana split from Dairy Queen. Pops will be remembered for his contagious and loud laughter, silliness, and obnoxious jokes. He enjoyed his beers and singing to Vicente Fernandez songs. He made numerous friends throughout his life.
He is survived by his parents, Xavier and Elisa Carpintero, his sons, Steven Pulido and Xavier Carpintero III, his grandchildren Steven Elijah Pulido and Audrina Renae Carpintero, his siblings Virginia Garcia (Rodolfo), Hilda Prieto, Eddie Carpintero, nieces Marissa Garcia, Amanda Prieto, and Jessica Carpintero, nephews Zachery Prieto and Eric Garcia.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial service scheduled for Friday June 25, 2021 from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. Rosary at 9:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home - 1060 N. Carolina Dr. Inurnment service at Ft. Bliss to follow at 11:30 a.m.
