Jesus David Fajardo

David Fajardo nació el 27 de enero de 1950 (¡oficialmente registrado siete meses después!) a orillas del río Daule, cerca del pequeño pueblo de Santa Lucía, Ecuador. Nació prematuro a los siete meses y milagrosamente sobrevivió sin atención médica especializada de maternidad. Habiendo nacido y crecido en un hogar cristiano, habiendo recibido por el ejemplo de sus padres la fe en Dios personal, David entregó su vida a Jesucristo como Salvador personal, siendo apenas un niño de ocho años. A los 12 años, David comenzó sus aventuras viajando solo en autobús a Colombia para vivir con su tía Carlota. El creció con una gran pasión por el aprendizaje y los viajes, pero, lo más importante, descubrió su misión en la vida: servir a Dios y compartir el amor de Dios a otros.

David comenzó a predicar en 1967, cuando tenía 17 años. A los 20 años, se enlistó en el Ejército Ecuatoriano y sirvió durante 2 años, después regresó a Guayaquil para estudiar en el Colegio Bíblico durante 2 años más. Luego se trasladó al Seminario Internacional Bautista en Cali, Colombia (1977 – 1980) donde obtuvo una licenciatura en Estudios Teológicos. Durante ese tiempo, conoció, cortejó y se casó con el amor de su vida, Vilma M, y fue pastor de la Primera Iglesia Bautista de Ambato (1979-1980). David fue oficialmente ordenado al ministerio pastoral en febrero de 1982 y fue pastor en la iglesia Dios Es Amor desde 1981 hasta 1986. David también ocupó varios puestos de liderazgo nacionales e internacionales, incluyendo: JEBE (Juventud Evangélica Bautista Ecuatoriana), ABG (Asociación Bautista de Guayas), CBE (Convención Bautista Ecuatoriana) y JUBLA (Juventud Bautista Latinoamericana). También se graduó de la Universidad de Guayaquil en 1986 con una licenciatura en Periodismo.

En 1986, David fue invitado a unirse al ministerio de Editorial Mundo Hispano (Casa Bautista de Publicaciones), lo que le abrió las puertas para trasladar a su familia a los Estados Unidos, estableciéndose en El Paso, TX. Su dedicación y arduo trabajo fueron evidentes a lo largo de su vida, especialmente durante su carrera en el ámbito editorial en EMD-CBP, donde ocupó muchos cargos, desde editor, Director de Marketing y Director de Conexiones hasta su jubilación en 2016. Ese mismo año, obtuvo su Maestría en Estudios Teológicos de Logos University.

David fue un miembro activo de la comunidad cristiana local en El Paso y Juárez, donde sirvió como Pastor en la Iglesia Bautista El Camino (1988 – 1992) y como Pastor en la Iglesia Bautista Internacional desde 1993 hasta su retiro del ministerio en 2022. Su legado de liderazgo servicial, amor, compasión, amabilidad, generosidad, y servicio a la comunidad seguirá vivo en las muchas vidas que impactó. Más allá de sus logros profesionales, David era conocido por su espíritu aventurero y espontáneo, su amor por el café y su pasión por los deportes. Le encantaba tomar fotos de todo, ver fútbol y escuchar buena música.

David fue un esposo devoto para Vilma M. Fajardo y un padre amoroso para sus hijos, Vilma E., Pablo y Ana. También fue un orgulloso abuelo de Isaiah, Joshua, Julia y Xander. David fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Ecuador Faraón Fajardo y Evelina Fajardo (Garces). Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Vilma M. Fajardo; su hijo, Pablo Fajardo; sus hijas, Vilma Burman (Mike) y Ana Fajardo (Justin); sus nietos, Isaiah, Joshua, Julia y Xander; ocho hermanas (Sara, Ruth, Marta, Febe, Esther, Ana María, Soraya, Rebecca Ercilia) y tres hermanos (Timoteo, Elías, Simeón); junto con muchos cuñados, cuñadas, primos, sobrinas y sobrinos.

David también estaba en el proceso de escribir la historia de su vida y mencionó a personas específicas que tuvieron un impacto en su vida. A continuación, sus propias palabras:

"Con gratitud al Señor quiero agradecer a todas las personas y/o familias que han sido pilares de bendición en mi vida; y que, hasta hoy, han sido parte de esta historia; así como sus familias. Son muchas, y trataré de recordar algunas pocas como: mi padre y mamá (don Ecua y Evelina), José y Raquel Andrade, Ernesto y Juanita Johnson, los Rugel, los Morán, los Mendoza, Augusto y Gloria Villamar, Carlota González, Sara Aya, Sebastián Barrios, José y Fany Guerrero, Alberto y Antonieta López, Manuel y Zoila Martínez. Mis 11 hermanos (8 mujeres y 3 varones), Vilma (esposa), Vilma, Pablo, Ana (los hijos que ya son mayores y sus cónyuges con sus hijos), entre otros. Gracias a mi Dios, quien me ha guiado y me ha ayudado hasta hoy, y sigue adelante conmigo."

David tenía deseos específicos sobre cómo quería ser recordado después de su partida. En honor a su petición, no habrá un funeral o entierro tradicional. En su lugar, cumpliremos su deseo de llevar sus cenizas de regreso a su lugar de nacimiento en Ecuador. Sin embargo, queremos invitar a todos los que lo conocieron y amaron a acompañarnos en un servicio memorial para celebrar su vida.

David será profundamente extrañado por todos los que lo conocieron, pero su memoria vivirá en nuestros corazones para siempre.

Celebrating a Life of Service

in a Christian home and having witnessed his parents' personal faith in God, David gave his life to Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of eight. At 12 years old, David began his adventures, traveling alone by bus to Colombia to live with his aunt Carlota. He grew up with a deep passion for learning and travel, but most importantly, he discovered his life's mission: to serve God and share God's love with others.

David began preaching in 1967 when he was 17 years old. At 20, he enlisted in the Ecuadorian Army and served for two years, then returned to Guayaquil to study at Bible College for two more years. He later moved to the International Baptist Seminary in Cali, Colombia (1977-1980), where he earned a bachelor's degree in Theological Studies. During that time, he met, courted, and married the love of his life, Vilma M., and pastored the First Baptist Church of Ambato (1979-1980). David was officially ordained into the pastoral ministry in February 1982 and served as pastor at Dios Es Amor Church from 1981 to 1986. David also held several national and international leadership positions, including JEBE (Ecuadorian)

David Fajardo was born on January 27, 1950 (officially registered seven months later!) on the banks of the Daule River, near the small town of Santa Lucía, Ecuador. He was born prematurely at seven months and miraculously survived without specialized maternal medical care. He also graduated from the University of Guayaquil in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism.

In 1986, David was invited to join the ministry of Editorial Mundo Hispano (Casa Bautista de Publicaciones), which opened the door for him to move his family to the United States, settling in El Paso, TX. His dedication and hard work were evident throughout his life, especially during his editorial career at EMD-CBP, where he held many positions, from editor, Marketing Director, and Director of Connections until his retirement in 2016. That same year, he earned his Master's degree in Theological Studies from Logos University.

David was an active member of the local Christian community in El Paso and Juarez, where he served as Pastor at El Camino Baptist Church (1988-1992) and as Pastor at International Baptist Church from 1993 until his retirement from ministry in 2022. His legacy of servant leadership, love, compassion, kindness, generosity, and community service will live on in the many lives he touched. Beyond his professional achievements, David was known for his adventurous and spontaneous spirit, his love for coffee, and his passion for sports. He loved taking photos of everything, watching soccer, and listening to good music.

David was a devoted husband to Vilma M. Fajardo and a loving father to his children, Vilma E., Pablo, and Ana. He was also a proud grandfather of Isaiah, Joshua, Julia, and Xander. David was preceded in death by his parents, Ecuador Faraón Fajardo and Evelina Fajardo (Garces). He is survived by his beloved wife, Vilma M. Fajardo; his son, Pablo Fajardo; his daughters, Vilma Burman (Mike) and Ana Fajardo (Justin); his grandchildren, Isaiah, Joshua, Julia, and Xander; eight sisters (Sara, Ruth, Marta, Febe, Esther, Ana María, Soraya, Rebecca Ercilia) and three brothers (Timoteo, Elías, Simeón); along with many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

David was also in the process of writing the story of his life and mentioned specific people who had a significant impact on him. In his own words:

"With gratitude to the Lord, I want to thank all the people and/or families who have been pillars of blessing in my life and who have been part of this story, along with their families. There are many, and I will try to remember a few, such as: my father and mother (Don Ecua and Evelina), José and Raquel Andrade, Ernesto and Juanita Johnson, the Rugel family, the Morán family, the Mendoza family, Augusto and Gloria Villamar, Carlota González, Sara Aya, Sebastián Barrios, José and Fany Guerrero, Alberto and Antonieta López, Manuel and Zoila Martínez, my 11 siblings (8 sisters and 3 brothers), Vilma (wife), Vilma, Pablo, Ana (the children who are now grown and their spouses with their children), among others. Thanks to my God, who has guided me and helped me up to this point, and continues to walk with me."

David had specific wishes about how he wanted to be remembered after his passing. In honor of his request, there will be no traditional funeral or burial. Instead, we will fulfill his wish to take his ashes back to his birthplace in Ecuador. However, we want to invite all who knew and loved him to join us in a memorial service to celebrate his life.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
