John Linton Hainer passed on Tuesday, June 5th 2018 in El Paso, Texas. John was 89 years and is survived by his wife Ruth Elaine Hainer, 82 years of age. They enjoyed over 63 years of marriage and most recently resided at the MonteVista at Coronado in El Paso, Texas. John is also survived by brother Jim Hainer or Wilmington Delaware, and Mary Kollar of Seattle, Washington, as well as children, Nancy Lynn Harrison, Michael James Hainer and Belinda Jean Turensky. John was born to Linton and Mildred Hainer in Flint, Michigan on February 20, 1929. John graduated from Ames High School in Iowa in 1947. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnical Institute (Virginia Tech) with a degree in Geology in 1954. John Hainer and Ruth Grenvik met when John was working as a geologist for North Dakota Geological Survey. In 1955 they were married in Ruth’s hometown of Kenmare, North Dakota. In 1956 they moved from Grand Forks, ND to Houston, Texas where John worked for Shell Oil Company. John and Ruth, with children Mike and Belinda moved to Sydney, New South Wales in Australia in 1968 when John accepted employment with Planet Oil Company. In 1973 John and Ruth returned to Dallas, Texas to finish his career in petroleum exploration with Enserch Energy Corporation, where he retired 1n 1992. They enjoyed many years of retirement living in Vicksburg Village in Kerrville, Texas since 1992. John & Ruth moved to MonteVista in west El Paso from Kerrville in May, 2017. Reptiles of every sort, Handball and motorcycling throughout the United States with Ruth and many moto’migos were some of John’s passions in life. John made many valued friends along his way in life. He was an amazing father, and an exceptional husband. He was imperfect as every man is, but he was just simply perfect for us.
