Dr. Jorge C. Magaña, 97, passed away peacefully at home in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 25, 1928, in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, he recently celebrated his 97th birthday, a milestone that reflected a long and purposeful life dedicated to family, medicine, and compassion.
Dr. Magaña earned his medical degree in Pediatrics in 1956. While serving the people of Sonora, Mexico, he met Maria Elena Corella, the love of his life and devoted partner for 69 years. Together they built a life of deep love, faith, and family.
Above all, he cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife Maria Elena, his children Maria Elena Keeler (Donald), Jorge Magaña (Michelle), Yvette Magaña, and Luis Magaña (Marcela); eleven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, who brought him endless pride and joy.
Dr. Magaña will be remembered for his wisdom, warmth, humor, integrity, and generosity — a healer of bodies and hearts alike. His life was one of purpose and love, and his legacy will continue in the lives of those he cared for and those who loved him.
Funeral services to be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4006 Hidden Way, El Paso, TX 79922, on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 10AM.
