He was born on January 31, 1961, in El Paso, Texas, and proudly served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. He was a devoted father and grandfather, known for his love of sports, music, and food, and for spoiling his grandchildren every chance he got.
He is survived by his loving mother, Virginia Ortiz, age 94; his wife, DeBroada Cornelius; his two sons, Orlando Ortiz (wife, Valerie) and Raul Ortiz (fiancé' Jodeci); his stepson, Cameron Cornelius; his brother, Reynaldo Ortiz (wife, Norma); his sister, Silvia Ortiz; and eight grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jose A. Ortiz, Jr.; his father, Oscar Ortiz; and his brother, Roberto Ortiz.
A viewing will be held on January 14th at Martin’s Funeral Home (East) from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on January 15th at Martin’s Funeral Home (East) at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow with full military honors
