He was predeceased by his spouse, Anna Zubia; his mother, Juana Zubia; his father, Jose Zubia; his daughter, Guadalupe Zubia; his sister, Marta Gomez; his sister, Guadalupe Zubia; and his brother, Guillermo Zubia.

He is survived by his daughters, Christine A. Portillo and Sylvia R. Zubia (Mark); his sons, Joseph R. Zubia (Edna) and Peter M. Zubia (Erika); his grandchildren, Victoria De Salais, Stephanie Montanez, Cassandra Padilla, Jenna Acosta, Olivia Zubia, Emily Zubia, Matthew Montanez, and Joseph Zubia; his aunt, Celia Knowlton; and he also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held at St Matthew Catholic Church, located at 400 W Sunset, El Paso, Texas, 79922, on December 9, 2025, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. The rosary will take place at the same location on December 9, 2025, starting at 10:30 am. The funeral mass will be held at St Matthew Catholic Church on December 9, 2025, at 11:30 pm.

The committal service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX, 79906, on December 9, 2025, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
