Joseph Lyon
Sunrise: Christmas 12-25-1937
Sunset: Good Friday 4-18-2025
Joseph Lyon, a loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather, and man of quiet strength, passed away peacefully surrounded by love. He was a man of few words but endless heart…a steady, compassionate presence whose life was built on faith, family, and the simple joys of everyday moments.
Joe graduated from Austin High School, then proudly served in the military reserves, before graduating from Texas Western, and later found his calling as a real estate agent, helping countless families find a place to call home. He went on to become a broker, working in commercial real estate and owning multiple properties. Outside of work, he loved watering his plants, walking in the mall, and playing Solitaire. He regularly attended St. Matthew’s Church and also enjoyed savoring a good meal, taking car rides, and cheating at card games. He especially cherished spending time with his family and going on adventures, near or far, with a particular fondness for Las Vegas.
Joseph was strong, giving, funny, sometimes stubborn, but always kind. His love showed up in the little things…in being present, in giving without question, leading with grace, and in making others feel safe and cared for. His legacy of compassion, guidance, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Janet Lee Lyon. He is survived by his loving children Dana (James), Derek, Kent (Candy), and Tim (Tiffany) and his grandchildren Lauren, Sarah (Eastland), Grant, Alex, and Brandon. He also leaves behind 5 great grandchildren.
His absence leaves a quiet space that love will continue to fill.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7
“Grief is the price we pay for love, and though the ache may never leave us, neither does the love that caused it. In remembering, we keep them close; in every story we share, every place we revisit, every quiet moment they would have loved.”
Joseph Lyon lived a beautiful life; humble, full, and deeply loved. He will be missed beyond words.
