Juan (Johnny) M. Ortega passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family and friends. Johnny is survived by his: wife, Maria (Chita) Ortega; daughters Lily Miranda (Eddie) & Anna Aguilar (Ray); grandsons Eddie Miranda Jr. (Crystal), Paul Aguilar (Celia) & John Aguilar (Safiya); and granddaughter Melissa Sanchez (Victor): He was also survived by 8 great grandchildren: Eddie Miranda III, Alyssandra Miranda, Camila Sanchez, Sebastian Sanchez, Ava Aguilar, Vincent Aguilar, Alana Aguilar and Gabriela Aguilar: and brother Victor Ortega.
Johnny served his country during the Korea War era. He was the owner of Johnny’s Body Shop. Johnny and Chita just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in July of 2025.
The services (visitation, rosary and mass) will be held at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 519 S Latta St, El Paso, Texas 79905. Visitation/viewing will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 18, 2025. The rosary is at 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 18, 2025. The funeral mass will be at 11:30 AM, Friday, September 19, 2025. The graveside service will occur at 1:00 PM, Friday, September 19, 2025, Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
Serving as pallbearers are Eddie Miranda, Ray Aguilar, Eddie Miranda Jr., Victor Sanchez, Paul Aguilar, and Oscar Ortega Jr. Honorary pallbearer Victor Ortega.
