Kenneth W. Shanaberger, 64, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s. Ken was born August 16, 1958, in Van Nuys, California, to Paul and Norma Shanaberger. While attending the University of California, Long Beach, for his first of two graduate degrees, Ken met the love of his life, Patty Lee. On January 10, 1986, Ken and Patty were married, with sons Matthew Douglas and William Tyler following soon after.
In addition to being a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Ken was also an avid photographer, with an inspiring admiration for aviation photography. Quick to make friends and always one to provide a joke or two, Ken was constantly surrounded by those who loved him. Ken will be remembered for the life lessons he taught, and the passion he brought to everything he enjoyed in life.
Ken is survived by his best friend and wife of 37 years, Patty, his two sons Matthew (Shelby) and William (Septaris), his favorite grandson, Hunter, his loving mother, Norma, and beloved sister Sandra (Will). Ken is preceded in death by his father, Paul.
The family would like to thank everyone who ever shared a moment in Ken’s life. Everyone around Ken will remember his jovial nature, and compassionate drive to remain close with everyone. Ken will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the Shanaberger family is requesting donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association and encourages you to visit your local air museum to celebrate Ken’s life.
