Leonard J Christensen Msg (Ret.) US Army, 82, went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2016, after a long battle with Cancer and Aneurisms. A veteran of Vietnam Eras, Msg Christensen retired from the United States Army in 1972 after over 20 years of service, in which he received numerous awards and medals such as the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Meritorious Unit Citation; Army of Occupation Medal; Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents and five sisters. He is survived by his wife, Rosa, three sisters, two brothers, son, Manuel, daughters, Melody and Marisol, along with their loving children, which include 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leonard was born in Evanston, Ill and raised in Morton Grove, Illinois. As a boy he was adventurous & industrious, working various jobs in the neighborhood such as caddy for the local golf course, newspaper boy, shining shoes, bagging groceries, and various other jobs. He played football in high school and when he retired from the army he enjoy playing golf and making model airplanes and furniture. He also enjoyed singing & playing his classical guitar.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 3rd from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home, 8817 Dyer Street. Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 4th at 10:30 am at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors at 1:00 pm West shelter.
Leonard was a loving, kind, caring husband, father, uncle and grandpa who will be truly missed.
