Lupe Lopez Munoz

Lupe Lopez Munoz passed away peacefully on March 3rd, 2025, in her home surrounded by loved ones. She has finally been reunited with her husband, Alfonso Munoz, after 65 years. For more than 100 beautiful years, she created a thriving family with love, generosity, and laughter. Born in El Paso, TX on December 11, 1924, Lupe was 1 of 5 stunning sisters and 3 brothers. The large family lived in the city’s South side where she became a proud Bowie Bear. As a teenager she began altering and sowing her own clothes in an effort to get a better fit. She would continue making authentic pieces for her children and grandchildren. Quickly and unexpectedly, Lupe lost her husband and became a single mother with 4 children under 12 years of age. Even with all the challenges at hand, she managed to send her children to Catholic school by making clothing for special school programs. She always looked forward to the VFW weekend dances and Bingo was her game of choice. She gave it to you straight and you could find comfort in her truthfulness. She was very arts and crafts driven which meant large collections of crochet work and needlepoint for all her family to enjoy. She was a loving mother and grandmother that will be greatly missed. She was the steady hand that drove our family compass, and we will strive to live in her example of religious faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, sisters, and brothers. She is survived by her daughters Lupe, Gloria, Irene, and son Ruben Munoz, as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Lupe will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at San Antonio De Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Dr, El Paso, Texas 79915. A graveside will occur Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79907.
