Luz (Lucy) M. Papa Lewis, born on May 20, 1942 in El Paso, Texas, to the late Luz Papa and the late Louis Papa, passed away at age 75 on March 22, 2018. Luz was the beloved wife of 37 years to the late Willard P. Lewis Jr. Lucy had a passion for her family, friends, cooking and sports. She was a lifelong and devoted Catholic and served as a member to St. Mark's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis Papa Jr. and Jesus Papa and sisters, Concepcion del Hierro and Ursulina Armendariz and her granddaughter Mia Placencio. Luz is survived by her nine children: sons, David Marmolejo and Ralph Marmolejo, John and Michael Lewis; daughters Laura Taylor, Sharon Lewis, Michele Osborn, Erin Lewis, and Sherrie Placencio; 15 grandchildren ,3 great-grandchildren , and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her greatly loved dog, Mitzi. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church, 11700 Pebble Hills Blvd., El Paso, Texas, 79936. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Blvd, El Paso, Texas, 79906.
