Manuel Armando Herrera, 74, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, went to be with our Lord, 27 December 2020. He was born in Chihuahua, Mexico 7 August 1946 and was the second oldest of 3 siblings (Maria-Ester Hijar and Adela Herrera, both of El Paso, Tx and Ernesto Herrera of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico). Manny learned to value music, education and a sense of humor at a young age and honed these attributes throughout his life. He served two tours as a soldier in Vietnam, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of active service.
Manny is survived by the mother of his children, Guadalupe Chavez of El Paso, Texas, his three children and their families: Gabriela Drake (husband John, children Nathaniel and Isabella of Inman, SC), Fabian Herrera (wife Audrey, children Matthew and Ethan of El Paso, Texas) and Renee’ Herrera-Holland (husband Josh, daughter Sara of Franklin, TN).
The family will have a private service in El Paso, Tx and then he will be interred with military honors. A celebration of life will be held for his family and friends in El Paso, TX and Spartanburg, SC when weather and viral conditions improve.
In lieu of flowers, he would prefer a donation to a local charity in his memory, or to SC American Legion Post 200 Honor Guard, P.O. Box 160021, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
