Graciela is survived by her husband Jose Melendez, her 4 children: Jose Luis Melendez (Rosario Cedillos), Mirna Rodriguez (Cesar Rodriguez), Brenda Gonzalez (Javier Gonzalez) and Joel Melendez (Denisse Melendez), 21 grandchildren and 24 great grand-children. She is preceded in death by her children: Azael, Javier and Armida.
Graciela, the eldest daughter of the late Mercedes Fernandez was born on August 10th, 1946 in Madera, Chihuahua. She met and married Jose Melendez in 1963. Graciela was a devoted homemaker to her 7 children. She showed her love through cooking-making her homemade tortillas and beans with lots of cheese for her family and any visitor that came to her door. She gave the best hugs and kisses. She enjoyed thrifting and gifting her purchases to her family and loved ones. Her presence brought warmth and her absence leaves an unfillable space.
She was the light and joy of the household with her singing and story-telling of past days and antidotes. Her legacy is one of compassion, family and unwavering devotion to God. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, yet her love and faith will continue to guide her family for generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace.
María Graciela Fernández de Meléndez falleció inesperadamente el 17 de enero de 2026 en su hogar en Chaparral, Nuevo México, a la edad de 79 años.
A Graciela le sobreviven su esposo José Meléndez; sus cuatro hijos: José Luis Meléndez (Rosario Cedillos), Mirna Rodríguez (César Rodríguez), Brenda González (Javier González) y Joel Meléndez (Denisse Meléndez); 21 nietos y 24 bisnietos. Le precedieron en la muerte sus hijos: Azael, Javier y Armida.
Graciela, la hija mayor de Mercedes Fernández (†), nació el 10 de agosto de 1946 en Madera, Chihuahua. Conoció y contrajo matrimonio con José Meléndez en 1963. Graciela fue una ama de casa dedicada a sus siete hijos. Demostraba su amor a través de la cocina, preparando sus tortillas hechas a mano y frijoles con mucho queso para su familia y para todo visitante que llegaba a su puerta. Daba los mejores abrazos y besos. Disfrutaba ir de compras a las tiendas, buscando y regalando a su familia y seres queridos. Su presencia brindaba calidez y su ausencia deja un vacío imposible de llenar.
Fue la luz y la alegría del hogar con su canto y sus relatos de tiempos pasados y anécdotas. Su legado es uno de compasión, familia y una devoción inquebrantable a Dios. Será profundamente extrañada por todos aquellos que tuvieron la bendición de conocerla; sin embargo, su amor y su fe continuarán guiando a su familia por generaciones. Que descanse en paz eterna.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn Funeral Home, located at 8817 Dyer, El Paso, TX 79904, US. The visitation is scheduled for January 29, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
