It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Maria Cecilia Wickes, age 71, who left this world on September 18, 2025. Born on September 2nd, 1954, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and mentor. Maria Cecilia Wickes was a woman of great faith, love, and resilience, who dedicated her life to her family and the teachings of Christ.
A widow for many years, Maria Cecilia Wickes found comfort and strength in her unwavering Christian faith, always focusing on the teachings of Jesus Christ, which guided her through the trials of life. She was a beacon of light to those around her, a gentle and nurturing presence that will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving children: Lyndy Wickes, Sarah Wickes, Zeke Wickes, and Michael Wickes. She is also cherished by eight grandchildren, Porchea Andiarena, Krista Baldwin, Justin Lopez, Savannah Hernandez, Abraham Hernandez, Serenity Wickes, Daniel Wickes, and Scarlett Wickes, and five great-grandchildren, Andre Andiarena, Alexander Andiarena, MiaGrace Andiarena, Noah Sanchez, and Charles Wolverton Baldwin; each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her love extended to her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, who were as beloved to her as her own children. Her love also extended to the Torres family, which she always considered her own. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Wickes, who passed away in January 2001; a loss that she bore with grace, always keeping his memory alive with absolute conviction.
Throughout her life, Maria Cecilia Wickes was known for her boundless compassion, her strength of spirit, and her unwavering love for her family. She taught us all the importance of kindness, patience, and faith. Her home was always open to those in need, and her hands were never too full to offer love and comfort.
In her final years, Maria Cecilia Wickes found solace in the peace and joy that came from her faith, her family, and her cherished memories. While her presence on this earth will be deeply missed, we take comfort in the knowledge that she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
A celebration of Maria Cecilia Wickes's life will be held October 2nd, 2025, at Crestview Funeral Home on 1462 N Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79936. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, (www.stjude.org) in her honor.
