Mario Guillermo Barcena

Mario attended El Paso High School and Cathedral High School where he was known as "the flying Barcena" for his speed and agility on the field, in track and field, and football. Mario had a passion for music and became a member of El Paso's own Rhythmairs in the late 1950's.

Mario was a proud member of the El Paso Masonic Brotherhood of El Paso and the Cathedral Alumni "Los que van quedando". As a faculty member of San Elizario High School, he was proud to impact the lives of young adults where he taught woodshop and was loved by his students. Years later, he would leave his position as foreman at Utility trailers, where he went on to starting his own businesses, Pro Trailer Repair, Tri State Semi Trailer Repair and Texas Express Truck lines. Mario was an avid Dallas Cowboys, UT Longhorns and Notre Dame fan, always believing they were all #1.

Mario is preceded in death by his Parents; Agustine and Juanita Barcena, Sister; Esther Q. Gaxiola. Brothers; Norberto Barcena, Augustine Barcena and Alfonso Barcena.

Mario is survived by his wife Juanita Juarez Barcena, Brother; Alonso Barcena, Children; Loriene Barcena Garcia, husband Carlos, Monique Barcena, Kym Barcena Carrizales, husband Peter, Delma Liza Marquez, husband Jerry, Connie Tellez, husband Michael and Alex Juarez. Also survived by six grand children, Brandon Gray, wife Nia, Mario Alberto Garcia, Andrea M. Garcia, Peter Carrizales IV, Zachary Marquez, Darlene Cruz, husband Ryan, Arlene Alvarez DeHaro, husband Nick, Christopher Talamantes and Derek Tellez. Four Great Grandchildren; Neko Gray, Emie Cruz, Andru DeHaro and Thomas DeHaro.

Honorary Pallbearers; Brandon Gray, Mario Alberto Garcia, Zachary Marquez, Christopher Talamantes, Michael Tellez, Beto Lopez, Neko Gray and Peter Carrizales IV.

Memorial will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 5-9 pm, Rosary 7-8 pm at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N. Zaragoza Rd. El Paso Tx 79936.

Celebration of life mass will be held at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 3021 Frutas Ave., El Paso TX 79905, Wednesday, November 8, 2017, 9:00 am.
