Mario Fernando Gaspar de Alba, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on January 21, 1938, in La Loma, Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, to Carlos and Guadalupe, Mario lived a life full of love, joy, and generosity.
Mario was preceded in death by his brothers José, Raúl, Antonio, Carlos, Fernando, and Ricardo, and by his sister Carmen. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ethel; his children, Joey and his wife Katrina, Melisa, Monica and her husband Tim, and David; sixteen adored grandchildren; six precious great-grandchildren; and his beloved sister Margot. His family was his greatest joy, and he found immense pride in their accomplishments, their unity, and the love they shared.
A man of wisdom and integrity, Mario built a respected career as a financial advisor and the founder of Gaspar de Alba Financial Services. His clients and colleagues admired not only his professional excellence but also his integrity, genuine kindness, and concern for those he served.
Mario had a zest for life. He loved to travel, savor good food, appreciate art, and celebrate life’s moments—large and small. But above all else, he loved his family. He often said his most important and rewarding work was done within the walls of his own home, as a husband and father. He lived that truth every day.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mario lived his faith with quiet strength and humility. He strived daily to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and was an example of compassion, service, and devotion to his family and community.
Those who knew Mario will remember his warmth, generosity, and friendship. He was a devoted son to his parents, a loyal brother, and a steadfast friend. He was an example to his children and grandchildren, and his influence will continue to bless generations to come. His legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 4-8 p.m. on Friday November 7th at Martin Funeral Home West and a memorial service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 670 East Redd Road, El Paso, TX, on Saturday November 8 at 11 a.m.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
