Martha Borrego, affectionately known as “Bita Marta” by those who loved her most, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in her El Paso home. She was 85 years old and was surrounded by the family she spent her lifetime nurturing.
A radiant presence and a pillar of her community, Martha was a woman defined by her unwavering faith and a heart without bounds. In 1978, she turned a dream into a reality by founding her beloved Delicious Mexican Eatery in El Paso. With the help of her family, she created more than just a restaurant; she built a "home away from home" where generations of families gathered to be nourished in body and spirit.
Martha’s life was guided by her devotion to the Holy Roman Catholic Church. She lived with a quiet humility, a deep faith, and compassion that touched everyone from lifelong friends to passing strangers. She had a rare gift for making every person she met feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. She was a true Martha who never let anyone leave hungry.
She is survived by her daughter, Monika, and her sons, Ray, Art, and Alfred. Her legacy of kindness and hard work continues through her eight grandchildren—Christian, Natali, Monett, Andre, David, Eric, Daniel, and Aaron—and her two great-grandchildren, Joel and Ella Sophia, all of whom carry forward the spirit she so gracefully instilled in them.
