Miguel (Mike) Villa passed away on March 1st, 2022 in El Paso, Texas at 90 years of age. Miguel was born in Fort Hancock, Texas and graduated from Fort Hancock High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served for four years during the Korean War. His sea duty was on the USS Manchester. He attended Texas Western College now know at UTEP and graduated with a major in math and a minor in education. He taught math at Jefferson High School and was considered by many a very good math teacher. Miguel loved family, friends, and animals. He was always very kind and loving to all animals. Mike loved the outdoors and liked to go on long bike rides and to hike. He never married but loved enjoying time with family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his brother Fred Villa, sister Lucy Villa Rodriguez, and his nieces and nephews; Pat Crain, Virgil Scott, Debora Villa, Doreen Simmons, Daniel Villa, Victor Jasper, Randy Jasper, Natalie Hill, Hector Rodriguez, Rick Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez, and Kim Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his parents Federico Villa and Carmen Serna Villa, his sisters Rosalia (Rosie) Scott, Maria Magdalena (Nena) Mendoza, Berta Jasper, and his nephews Don Scott and David Villa.
Funeral Mass will be held on March 25th, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 1118 North Mesa, El Paso, Texas, at 1:30 pm. There will be a memorial service with Navy Honors following the mass at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue, El Paso, Texas, starting at 3 pm.
