

Born on January 15, 1948, in Porvenir Mexico, Olivia devoted her life to education and service. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Texas at El Paso and later completed a Master of Education at Sul Ross State University. Her career as an educator and counselor reflected her passion for learning and her commitment to guiding others. She taught and mentored students in junior high and high school for over 35 years teaching English, Spanish, and as a school counselor.
Olivia’s love for knowledge and mentoring extended beyond the classroom. Through the American Institute for Foreign Study, she traveled to many countries as a chaperone taking groups of high school students abroad during summer break.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Olivia was an active member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Her spiritual devotion shaped her life and inspired those around her. She will be remembered for her caring nature as a second mother to the family, her intelligence, generosity, strength and steadfast dedication to her beliefs.
She found joy in quiet moments—always reading in her spare time, solving puzzles, and spending time with loved ones. Her devotion to her mother was especially meaningful, reflecting the strong family ties she cherished.
Olivia is lovingly remembered by her brothers Baldomero Navarrete, Cesar Navarrete, and Mario Navarrete (Alba); nieces and nephew Olivia Gustin (Jake), Chance Navarrete, Adriana Navarrete, Bianca Navarrete (Zena), Amber Navarrete, and Diana Navarrete; as well as great- niece and nephews Edith Gustin, Jake Gustin, and Edmund Gustin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adelina Chavez Navarrete and Baldomero Navarrete.
A Visitation will be held on July 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive. The Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 8600 Winchester Rd. Then Graveside Service from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery East, 12400 Montana Ave.
