She was born on October 6, 1944 in Mexico City to Gonzalo and Felipa Zarazua. She came to El Paso, Texas at the age of 14 years old. She married and had 3 children and helped raise her grandchildren. Some of her favorite activities included: cooking, ceramic painting, sewing and gambling. She enjoyed volunteering at the senior citizen center, where she participated in all of their holiday events. Visiting her local swap meet on Sunday mornings was something she enjoyed.
Many knew Pilar as a very strong, independent, active and hard-working woman and was known for her famous tamales.
She will be dearly missed by the ones who loved her most.
She is preceded in death by Dolores Apodaca and Manuel Ruz.
Pilar is survived by her children: Raul, Virginia and Noel Manuel.
Grandchildren: Victoria, Monique, Alexandra, Raul Jr., Lee Andra, Noel, Ryley and Abygale.
Brothers and Sisters: Raul, Antonio, Josefina, Graciela and Rosa.
A Visitation for Pilar will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N Resler Dr, El Paso, Texas 79912, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 9:30am at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. Interment will follow at 11:00am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, Fort Bliss, Texas 79906.
