I am The Rev. Fr. James Brzezinski, I am a friend of Rachel's son Jim. I met Jim in El Paso Texas and we remain friends even through our journey have taken us to distance places.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rachel while I was living in El Paso. Jim and I visited his mom and we had a nice time. Rachel was a devout Christian and I enjoyed the immediate connection I had with Rachel through our faith in Jesus Christ.

I had the opportunity to talk with Rachel a number of times over the last few years via telephone.  I am thankful that Jim honored me with meeting his mother Rachel.

Rachel means lamb in Hebrew and is associated the qualities of purity, innocence, weakness, peacefulness, gentleness, and vulnerability. 

The Rachel that I knew showed these fine qualities in our conversations and in her life.

Within the sadness of Rachel's passing to eternal life it is good for us to note that Rachel made her transition from her earthly life to her heavenly life during Holy Week after Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem for the Passover and was prepared for her own reception in heaven to receive her own crown during our celebration of Easter, where Jesus was waiting to receive her in heaven.

Alleluia! Christ is Risen. The Lord is Risen Indeed. Alleluia! 

Grant, O Lord, to all who are bereaved the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; not sorrowing as those without hope, but in thankful remembrance of your great goodness, and in the joyful expectation of eternal life with those they love.  And this we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Savior.  Amen. 

Almighty God, Father of mercies and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with all who mourn; that, casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through  Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 

God Bless you Rachel in the Name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I lit a candle for you, dear Rachel, here in Germany. And I also put the little black onyx turtle on my altar that you gave me for good luck when I left your house in El Paso.
Thinking of you I'm grateful for the beautiful days we could spent together for your 89th birthday. Thank you for your big and welcoming heart, for your deep and unshakable faith und your devotion to life and your loved ones, your loving care for your little garden and your little dog, for the yummy food you cooked and for your strong, optimistic and independend spirit. I will miss your voice on the phone...May you have a good, joyful and blessed journey back home.

My heart goes out to you dear Sandy and dearJim and to all the family and friends who are grieving right now and who will miss her dearly. I send you all a big warm hug over the ocean and much love for the days to come.


My name is Boyan, I'm an european friend with the son of Rachel for the last 5 years and even that never met Rachel in person,  we did talked on the phone long enough to feel her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit. When I die, my father Richard and mom Rachel, my first wife Nancy who died of alcoholism, Lynn Chandler's parents  Bill & Prim Friedman, Mrs Fishell,  my other mom will have gone before me.
Hopefully, I will be survived by.:
Lynn, wife and friend for 30  years who I had the pleasure of raising Michael Chandler, best country western singer and Leslie Lidtke, best mom next to her own I know.

MIchael has a junior and Leslie produced for Pop Pop, 2 of the most beautiful, nicest, smartest, and loved grand-daughters in Megan and Paige.

Lynn, a good daughter-in-law. Especially, when she helped my sister overcome mom's broken back when she was 73. My mom can tell you how God saved her from a fall reported by CNN as a 73 yr old woman falls down a 20 ft well in Perris Ca. The doctors said she would probably never walk again. She danced with the surgeon and continued walking for 20 more years. 

Bob Lahan, my Al-Anon sponsor for 40 years from my first wife's disease is 98 going for 100.

The Fishell klan, John, Bud and Deb helped me constantly.
Finally, I didn't have a large and extended Family but I have been blessed with many friends.

First one to mention is Rose Marie Capps since we were 12. Then the Irvin High School Football team which gave me Jose Granados, Jim Walker, and Jaime Chavando. What a band of brothers.

My Friends in the Navy like Dr Darrell Gooden and Captain Ed Schwier.

Speaking of Doctors, one of the best, mom's last of many,  Dr Perry Wolfe! Thank you.

New ones like Marcus, Boyan, Uli, Isabel, Alicia and Miguel Trueno in my new home in Mallorca, Spain

Finally, my newest friend, Petra Heidi Greitschus from Germany, She met my mom and we sang Marty Robbins at Rosa's Cantina.
"Out in the west texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl... The story continues!

P.S. My visit yesterday to King Ludwig's castle was significant because my mom and dad took me there when I was 8. The next year sis was  born.

I have known Rachel for quite some time. I met her through her love for her little chihuahua,  Chiquita. They brought each other so much happiness and joy. I was also blessed to share her faith in OUR LORD and be able to share the Eucharist with her. She was a strong, beautiful, loving woman who I loved and will miss very much. She is standing  before the LORD,  and HE is saying "Welcome  Rachel, and for a job well done". GOD rest your precious soul Rachel. 

Rachel was an awesome woman. She reminded me a lot of my mom.   I found out through our time together that she lived a very interesting life.  She had a fiesty side to her.  I am blessed to have  known her. I  will miss her. She is at eternal peace with our Lord.
