It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mike Boswell, a brother & father. He was known for his wild spirit, kind, loving, caring, and most definitely humorous personality, who left us on January 13th, 2025, at the age of 65 from heart failure. While Mike and his family experienced periods of estrangement, he will be remembered for his humorous and most charming personality in his best days, as well as the help and support he provided in his earlier life to his family. To have known him was to know pure JOY.
Mike battled with depression and addiction on and off throughout his lifetime. His journey was not always an easy one, but it was marked by his inspirational fighting spirit and his enduring capacity for hope, joy, and love. His radiant smile lit up any room he entered.
Mike lived in El Paso, TX, San Diego, CA, Ruidoso, NM, Carlsbad (with nick name Cave Man), NM, Canutillo, TX and Las Cruces, NM. Mike briefly attended Coronado High School. He was very proud to have obtained his CDL and drove Semi Trucks cross country throughout the U.S. He worked driving trucks in the oil fields of Carlsbad and Hobbs, NM.
Mike was born in El Paso, Texas on December 24, 1959. He married Kathleen Pritchard in San Diego, CA. on May 11, 1991. They gave birth to a daughter, Kailey and later divorced in 1998. Mike loved his daughter deeply even though it was difficult for him to be the father he wanted to be. Mike got a custom motorcycle that he was very proud of and spent a lot of time fixing it up and riding it when he could. (unfortunately, it was stolen just after he passed).
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Eugene “Gene” Boswell, Jr., his mother Ingrid Luise Boswell, Grandparents, Ralph E Boswell, Sr and Margaret Lilian Boswell, cousins Patty Jean Boswell and Gerald Boswell.
Mike is survived by his beloved daughter Kailey Piper and husband Paxton and four granddaughters, Haven Piper, Oakleigh Piper, Hunter Piper and Mabel Piper, sisters Deirdre Boswell and LeeAnn Nichols and husband Eddie. Uncle Gerald Anthony “Tony” Boswell and wife Mary and cousins Beth Ann Sullivan and Colleen Ealey. Also survived by his close friend Danyse Carvajal of El Paso, TX.
Currently, no services are planned. A memorial service may be held and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to ~Zia recovery center ~ 303 N Alameda Blvd, Las Cruces, NM 88005 (make check payable to Recovery Avenue) a cause close to Mike Boswell's heart.
His laughter still echoes in the hearts he touched. Rest in peace, dear father, brother and friend. You will always be in our hearts
