

Ramon Casarez 88, passed away on October 3, 2014. He is survived by Irene, his loving wife of 63 years; his son Rueben (Nicole) and his daughter Rita (David). He has 6 grandchildren- Adrian, Julian (Erica) and Christian Canales, Alex, Rebecca and Laura Casarez. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his mother Natalia Casarez and sister Regina Reyes. Ramon was a proud graduate of Bowie High School Class of 1948. Ramon proudly served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Air Force, U.S. Army, and the Naval Reserve.Ramon was an electrician by trade and was certified as a Journeyman Electrician early in his career. He traveled to New York, New Mexico, and the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands on various job assignments. He was most proud of his work as a maintenance electrician at the El Paso International Airport. Bowling was his favorite hobby. He often bowled in more than one league per week and participated in many national tournaments including those in Oklahoma City, Reno, and Corpus Christi.Ramon was a true people person. No family outing was complete without encountering someone he knew. And no one was a stranger to him for long. He had a huge heart and was known for his generosity to those to whom he felt needed a hand. The family would like to thank all the friends and family, most especially the Reyes family, for the prayers and unending acts of kindness extended to them during this most difficult time. Visitation will be on October 8, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 at Hillcrest Funeral Homes, 1060 Carolina, El Paso, Texas. A memorial mass will be held October 9, 2014 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church with interment to follow with military honors at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
