Ricardo Alberto Lopez

Rick Lopez, November 22, 1955-August 30, 2022, 66 years old. Resident of El Paso, Texas. First and foremost, Rick was a loving soul who cared most deeply for his family but was also kind and generous toward many, many others. On a daily basis he provided love, care, and security for his wife, Gloria, his ttwo sons, Greg and Nick, his daughter-in-law, Iliana, and his grandchild, Camilla. Along with Gloria, he started a ministry for children with disabilities, was a staple at numerous Special Olympics games, and helped run bazaars at St. Raphael and Cathedral. His strong Catholic faith also led him to sing in the Cathedral alumni choir, mentor many children and adults who needed spiritual guidance, and be very active as a member of ACTS. He attended Mt. Carmel elementary school, Jesuit high school, and graduated from Cathedral in 1974. He was also a UTEP basketball season ticket holder for over 30 years and loved attending games and cheering on his team. Rick was truly a symbol of love, peace, and integrity. His maternal grandparents were Sabino and Elisa Hernandez, his paternal grandparents were Inez and Carlota Lopez, his parents are Heliodoro “Yo Yo” Lopez and Maria de Refugio “Cuca” Lopez. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Gloria Tinajero Lopez, his sons Gregory and Nick Lopez, his daughter-in-law, Iliana Melendez Lopez, and his granddaughter, Camilla Lopez. Also by his siblings, Irene and Tim Perreault, Rudy and Kim Lopez, Ronnie and Gloria Lopez, and Esther and Fernie Gomez. Rosary: Thursday, September 8, 2022, 5:30-8:30pm, St. Pius X Church. Funeral Mass: Friday, September 9, 2022, 10:00am, St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Church.
