Roberta J. Harrison, 93, passed peacefully into the hands of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2022, surrounded by her family. Roberta was born in Lynn, Mass, just outside of her favorite city of Boston. She spent several childhood years in Newfoundland, Canada, the home country of her parents. After graduating from high school, she attended Deaconess School of Nursing in Boston. That’s where she met Frank, her husband of 66 years, as well as many life-long friends. She followed Frank through his career in the Army, raising three children and moving every few years until his retirement in 1968.
The family moved to El Paso in 1970, settling on the West side. Roberta worked at Providence Memorial Hospital and Visiting Nurse Association for many years. Her true calling was caregiving, as evidenced by her 40 years of volunteer work with Hospice El Paso. She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by many.
Roberta was an active member of Western Hills United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for 50 years. She was a member of United Methodist Women and served on many committees. One of her favorite times of the year was Vacation Bible School where she could see the faces of the little children coming to learn about the Lord.
Roberta was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank, her parents Elam and Merida Mae Critch, her sister Wilma and brother-in-law Walter. She is survived by her children Scott Harrison (Robin) of Gig Harbor, WA, Mark Harrison of Tulsa, OK, and Carolee Polley (Gordon) of Mt. Airy, MD. She is also survived by the joys of her life, grandchildren Courtney Harrison, Phillip Harrison and Carter Polley. Her favorite title was Grammy, and she was never as happy as when she was with them.
A celebration of Roberta’s life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Western Hills United Methodist Church, 524 Thunderbird, El Paso at 2:00. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Hospice of El Paso, Inc., 1440 Miracle Way, El Paso, TX 79925, or Western Hills UMC.
