Roberto, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully on September 23, 2022. He was born on September 4, 1940 in El Paso, TX to Liborio and Estela Fierro, and he was a lifelong resident of El Paso. Roberto attended Burleson Elementary, graduated Jefferson High School in 1958, and concluded his schooling at Texas Western College (now the University of Texas at El Paso) with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He worked at White Sands Missile Range for 25+ years as a mathematician/statistician. After retiring, he worked at El Paso Community College as a math instructor and a tennis coach, volunteered at Job Corps, and was part of the CASA program. Roberto's favorite hobby was playing tennis, winning several local tournaments. He also was a handyman (building a greenhouse, sheds, laying floor tile inside the house and outside) and car mechanic. One of his favorite shows was the PBS NewsHour. Dad was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church where he attended mass on Saturday evening. He is survived by his son Robert C. Fierro, his daughter Christine E. Fierro (Ray Serrano), and grandson Casey Thomas Balda.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 3rd from 4pm-8pm with the Rosary at 6pm at Martin Funeral Home-East, 1460 George Dieter Dr.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Oct 4th at 10:00 am at St. Raphael's Catholic Church at 2301 Zanzibar Rd. followed by Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
