

Roberto Quintana, also known to his family as "Bobby" and to his friends as "Pudgy," passed away peacefully at his home on March 12, 2026, at the age of 73. He departed this life after a courageous battle with cancer spanning nearly 12 years. His strength, compassion, and genuine spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Robert graduated from Bel Air High School in 1971 before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he earned his degree from UTEP and retired in 2008 from Ysleta ISD as a dedicated Special Education teacher. During his time in the Army National Guard, he was called to serve in Operation Desert Storm (Gulf War), exemplifying his patriotism and commitment.
A man of many passions, Robert cherished every moment with his family, enjoyed playing sports—especially baseball—and touched everyone he met with kindness and warmth.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Sara Quintana; his brother Fernando (Mary Helen); and his sister Sara. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 47 years, Angie; his beloved daughters, Desiree and Vanessa (Elyse); his grandson, Sebastian; his step-grandchildren, Lucia and Gabriel; his brothers, Daniel (Marta) and Victor (Marina); his sister-in-law Mary Helen; and his devoted dog Leia.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Dr. William Innocent from the VA, Dr. Arsenio Lopez from Texas Oncology, and their staff, as well as Enhabit Hospice, for their compassionate care and support.
Robert’s legacy of love, patience, and resilience will never be forgotten. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on April 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX 79936. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
