With a heavy heart, we announce that our beloved brother, Roberto (Bobby) Rocha, lost his final battle at the age of 79 on June 6, 2025, in El Paso, TX. Born on March 10, 1946, in El Paso, Texas, he was the eldest of nine children born to Julieta and Julio Rocha Jr.
Bobby enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on August 3, 1964, during the Vietnam War. As a Junior Enlisted Corporal assigned to the 2nd Marine Division's 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion (3rd AABN) based at Camp Pendleton, California, he served four years and completed two combat tours in Vietnam. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 2, 1968.
In addition to his bravery as a Marine, Bobby faced the challenges of leukemia later in life with the same courage he displayed in the field. His passion for cooking was evident throughout his life, showcasing culinary masterpieces during his time at the Fort Bliss NCO Club. He was renowned not only for the exquisite flavors he crafted but also for the stunning presentations he created.
A devoted husband and loving brother, father, and grandfather, Bobby embodied integrity, honor, bravery, and generosity. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the cherished memories of all who knew him.
Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Julio Rocha Jr. and Julieta A. Rocha, and his twin sister, Rose Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Kwang Ok Pak Rocha; his three children: daughter Michelle R. Drake, son Robert Rocha, and stepson Cameron James; fifteen grandchildren: Bianca, Natalia, Mike, Michelle Le, Khalil, Jamal, Jalen, Kayla, Dexter, Karyle, Diamond, Cardell, Draya, and Savannah; four great-grandchildren: Milo, Mia, Amaya, and Dream; and seven siblings: Andres Rocha, Guillermo Rocha, David Rocha, Sylvia King, Julio Andre Rocha, Felipe Rocha, and Julie Curran.
Viewing will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer St., El Paso, TX 79904, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Funeral Service at 7:00 PM.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906, at 10:00 AM.
