Roger Stephen North (Rog) passed away on March 29, 2022 in El Paso, Texas. He will always be remembered as a devout and loving father, grandfather (Papi), uncle, musician and a very special friend to many in the local El Paso Community. He was born on January 26, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Rog truly had a heart made of gold. He always offered his help, wisdom, advice, and encouragement to anyone in need. He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor and many “Rogisms” that would make anyone laugh. His laugh was the loudest in the room and his smile the brightest. He had such a warm and charismatic energy, people often gravitated toward him. A devout Christian and prayer warrior, Rog had no trouble delivering scriptures from The Bible and leading praise and worship.
A lifelong piano player and singer, Rog could be seen around the city doing what he loved most. He played keys and sang in dozens of venues spanning across El Paso. He was actively involved in many up-and-coming artist’s and musician’s careers. In addition to musician, Rog was a progressive and forward-thinking businessman and philanthropist. 20+ year owner of “Roger North Rarities”, his online, rare-stamp and gemstone business, he gained customers and relationships all over the world. He fore fronted the online sales movement and was one of the first venture capitalists to raise funds online via his Financial Consulting Business. He was a very savvy crypto-currency trader and created his own Non-Fungible Token line aptly named “NFTELP”.
He enjoyed spending time with his partner Mary and caring for their plants and flowers with their dogs by their sides. He loved watching Texas-based pro-sports teams with his family. He had a healthy and active lifestyle and enjoyed cooking nutritious meals.
Rog’s grandchildren, Jadyn, Jude, Raiden, Ellie, Amaziah, and RJ were his absolute pride and joy. He was very close to his children and will be sorely missed by many.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Judith North and his son Stephen North. He is survived by his partner Mary Mendoza of El Paso, Texas, his brother Richard North of Santa Fe, New Mexico, his daughters Lindsey Weaver of Mattawan, Michigan, Angelene Story of Watauga, Texas, and his sons, Roger A. North of Fort Worth, Texas, and Travis North of El Paso, Texas.
