

Ruben Hernandez passed away on Sunday May 10th, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, laughter, and unwavering love. He was the strongest man we knew — not only in spirit, but in the way he carried and cared for everyone around him.
Ruben's parents Toribio and Otilia Hernandez, raised three children; Rosa (James) Zajemski, Martha (Ramon) Navarro and Ruben Hernandez. Born in El Paso on August 27, 1960, Ruben attended Alamo Elementary School, Guillen Middle School and was a proud Bowie Bear. In high school, he enjoyed playing football and running track/cross-country, where he won a state title. Ruben spent 25 years as a professional truck driver, where his love for traveling cross-country grew. He loved taking the backroads and visiting new places. Ruben was a loyal Bowie Bear and continued his loyalty for his alma mater by being a member of the Bear Connection. He loved coming together as a group and building parade floats for the Thanksgiving and Christmas parades. During his golden years, he enjoyed volunteering at Bonham Elementary and MacArthur Middle School, where he was awarded Volunteer of the Year by EPISD, the USO, where he was also awarded volunteer of the year for two consecutive years and St. Pius X Catholic Church. His commitment to his faith extended into his long standing membership with the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight for two terms. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister, Hospitality, and was an ACTS brother. Ruben was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He believed in lending a hand whenever he could and touched countless lives.
Known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, Ruben had a gift for making people smile. Whether through a joke, a clever remark, or simply his warm presence, he brought light into the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He loved deeply, gave generously, and never hesitated to help someone in need.
Above all, he cherished and loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Tina Hernandez, two daughters: Jenny Rodriguez, son-in-law Hector Rodriguez and Jacklyn Corona, son-in-law Armando Corona, three grandchildren: Ashley Madrid (Gabriel De La Mora), Isac Rodriguez, Makayla Rodriguez and two great grandchildren: Gianna and Alayna 'Elenita' De La Mora. They will forever carry his strength, love, and wisdom in their hearts.
Ruben was married to the love of his life Tina for 48 years. They created a beautiful home, full of love and endless memories. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the memories he created and the love he gave will remain forever.
He will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten.
Visitation will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N Clark Dr, El Paso, TX 79905, US, on May 18, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary Service at the same location on May 18, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N Clark Dr, El Paso, TX 79905, US, on May 19, 2026, at 9:30 am, followed by a Graveside Service at Evergreen Cemetery East, 12400 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79938, US, on May 19, 2026, at 11:00 am.
