Sara Ortega

Sara Ortega passed away peacefully at home in El Paso, Texas on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the age of 86 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Juan Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico on January 31, 1932 to Eufemio and Sara Soto. Sara was a woman of strong faith, who devoted her life to her family, community and church. Because of her kind and loving nature, she made everyone she encountered feel like a part of her family. She was well known for her sense of humor, devotion to her family, and her enchiladas which were a favorite at the annual St. Jude’s Catholic Church Bazaar. She leaves behind her sisters, Amada Fernandez and Lupe Ronquillo; her ten children: Ramon Ortega Jr., Luis Ortega, Teresa del Carmen Ortega, Lilia Margarita Arredondo, Maria Elena Lopez, Andres Ortega Sr., Miguel Ortega, Francisco Ortega, David Ortega Sr., and Roberto Ortega Sr.; twenty-one grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will remain in our hearts and minds. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N Carolina Dr. El Paso, Texas 79915. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Committal service will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd. El Paso, Texas 79907.
