She was born on October 3, 1932. Mom was survived by 3 loving sons and 2 daughters: Eduardo “Eddie”, Cecilia (Ignacio), Norma (Ricardo), Henry (Margarita ), Jaime (Arilda); Grandchildren: Marcos (Amy), Laura (Justin), Angelica (Marco), Patricia, Aurora (Mark), Tomás, Graciela; Great Grandchildren: Justine, Alexandra, Marco, Marcelo; siblings: Alfredo, Pedro, Salvador, Ana Maria, Poly and Danny.
Teresa was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Jose Eduardo Tinajero, father, Pedro Gomez, mother, Anita Alvarado Gomez; siblings: Chuy, Ramon, Juan, Inez, Josefina, Richard; Great Grandchildren: Mia and Mateo.
Teresa's childhood years were filled with happy memories of love, delicious meals, music filled evenings, farm animals in the backyard and rambunctious times with her siblings. At the tender age of 11, she lost her beloved mother, Anita, during childbirth, and had to care for her younger siblings until she got married. She attended Bowie High School for three years, but graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1950. She had the honor of becoming Thomas Jefferson’s first football queen (homecoming queen) in 1949.
After meeting the love of her life, Jose Eduardo Tinajero, "Lalo", at a dance at Cathedral High School, Teresa and Lalo got married at her neighborhood parish church, Calvario Catholic Church on November 30, 1952. Her love and dedication to her husband and five children were her sole priority, especially the care for her eldest son, Eddie, born with hydrocephaly. She retired from her part-time job in 1982 as an associate in the catalog department of Sears, Roebuck and Company. Teresa will always be remembered for her extraordinary piano playing. Her specialty was playing old, Spanish love songs from the early 1900s – her favorite description of this era was "El Año del Caldo". Her vibrant, outgoing personality radiated in her beautiful smile, which warmed everybody's hearts. She exuded compassion and tenderness to family, friends and neighbors, a quality she developed during her challenging time, taking care of her younger siblings. Our precious "Queen of Hearts" has left a huge hole in our hearts and will be sorely missed.
