Verne was born on December 13, 1931 in Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to Mary and Joshua Malone. He moved to Alabama graduating from Tuskegee University with a degree in Math and a
minor in Chemistry. In June 8, 1957 he married Jimmie Lou Branch whom he met at Tuskegee University
and had four sons; Kaj, Keith, Kent and Keeley. Verne retired as a Lieutenant Colonel serving 22 years in
the Army. Also, he worked in Civil Service at White Sands Missile Range.
Verne's career had him stationed in both Germany and South Korea. He loved to play golf, enjoyed long-
distance running and playing tennis. He delighted singing in the Immanuel Baptist Church choir and
going to church.
Verne is survived by his wife of 66 years Jimmie Lou Malone, son Kent A. Malone, and son Keeley A.
Malone. Predeceased by sons Kaj A. Malone, and Keith A. Malone.
