Virginia La Von Crawford, our loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on January 26, 2019. She was born September 4, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Raymond Harvey and Harriet Fowler. While she was born in Chicago, she lived in Taxco, Mexico as a young girl, and most of her years in El Paso, Texas. She was a graduate of Ysleta High School in 1956 and attended Texas Christian University.
Virginia had an aura about her that enabled to warm and welcome you with just her smile. She was a social butterfly early on. Some of her friends later in life, were friends she had as far back as high school. Virginia worked at an early age for The Plaza Theatre selling popcorn, Mr. Shamaley, and AB Dick before going to college. Later as a young mother she worked for Southern Union Gas Co., Featherlite Building Products and Grace United Methodist Church. Most of the time, she remained home with her four children making sure they always had what they needed. When her children were grown, she continued to keep busy by working at Gillett Insurance Company, where many fond and loving relationships were developed and still remain today.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, older sister, Dawn Mordecai Crawford, husbands, Don R. Echols, Frank G. Davis and Don Crawford She is survived by her children, Christy Henderson (John), Greg Echols (Penni), Bruce Davis (Melissa) and Jimmy Davis (Gina). Grandchildren, Curtis Henderson, Taylor Johnson, Piper Echols, Conner Davis, Zoie Davis, Claude Lorey, Demi Lorey, Jared Lorey and Logan Lorey. Great grandchildren, Preston Henderson and Makeisha Johnson.
All whom loved her dearly will never forget the grace with which she always lived her life. The family is so very thankful to Susan Hord and the staff of Serenity House, where Virginia resided for the past four years. Their familial love and care for her was paramount to her comfort.
