Phyllis was a woman of many passions, and she found great joy in traveling to new and beautiful places. She had a particular fondness for the mountains and treasured the times she spent camping, embracing the serenity and wonder of the natural world. Those who knew her well will fondly remember her enthusiasm for the outdoors and her adventurous spirit.
One of her proudest accomplishments was her extraordinary dedication to maintaining the beauty of her home environment. Phyllis took immense pride in keeping her yard immaculate, with a special devotion to her roses which flourished under her tender care. Her garden was a vibrant testament to her commitment and patience, reflecting her nurturing personality.
Phyllis is survived by her devoted children: Jerry Tracy, Sandy Gordon, and Lisa Smith. She was also a treasured grandmother to four grandchildren and a loving presence to numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and strength. She was predeceased by her husband, Don Jakel, whose memory she held dear throughout her life.
A memorial service to honor Phyllis’s life will be held on April 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, located at 604 State Highway 95, Elgin, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate her remarkable life and enduring influence.
