Ancil was born in Indianapolis to the late Walter and Helen Shipley.
He was survived by his loving wife, Sue Shipley; stepson, Tony Culver (Pat); stepdaughter, Tammy Reesor (Jerry); sister, Jean Bryant (Joe); 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Timmy Culver; and brother, Charles Shipley.
The family has chosen cremation and there are no services scheduled at this time.
