Catherine "Cathy" Mary (Simcoe) Oberg

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Catherine Mary (Simcoe) Oberg, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, who peacefully left us on January 3, 2025, at the age of 57.

Cathy was born on August 1, 1967, to Dorothy Simcoe and the late Desider Simcoe, III. Her childhood was filled with adventure and joy. As an Air Force brat, she grew up moving from place to place, experiencing the world.

Cathy dedicated her life to helping others through her career as a nurse. She spent many years working in healthcare, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike.

Cathy had a passion for life and a love for the little things. She found joy in shopping, scrapbooking, and watching sports. Some of the greatest years of her life were spent watching her children compete in various activities. She was a die hard Dodgers fan and rarely missed a game. One of the highlights of her year was watching the Dodgers win the 2024 World Series.

Cathy’s greatest joy was being a Mimi. She poured all her love into her grand babies, creating memories with them that will last a lifetime. She was notoriously known for trips to The Dollar Tree where she bought the boys anything their heart desired.

Her legacy will live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched during her career and personal life. Cathy’s love, warmth, and generosity of spirit will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.

Cathy is survived by daughter Aimee Roach (Jacob), daughter Caitlin Shilts (Morgan), son Matthew Coolidge (Ellie), and her three beloved grandsons: Jagger (14), Carlin (12), and Beckham (6); her mother Dorothy Simcoe, sister Mary Byrne (Tom), and brother Desider Simcoe IV (Peggy).

An open visitation for Cathy will be held at Brown Funeral Home on January 9th, 2025 from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
