OBITUARY

Catherine Simon

14 August, 1942 – 29 June, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Brown Funeral Home

Catherine Lurline Simon, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on June 29, 2024.

Lurline was born on August 14, 1942, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. A graduate of Elizabethtown High School, she married the love of her life, Jimmie Simon, in 1959, settled in and became a mother of 3. She had many jobs over the years, including real estate agent and various sales positions, and she retired in 2020 as the receptionist for the law firm of Quick & Coleman, where she had worked for many years.

Lurline passionately loved her family and friends and above all, her Lord and Savior, and was a long-time faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, and also loved, watched on-line, and supported Severns Valley Baptist Church.

Lurline was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who had a variety of interests in her lifetime, including dance, music, girl scouts, golf, interior design, volunteering in the community and at her children’s schools. She was very active in the lives of her husband, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, serving them well, and was always available to help in absolutely any way.

She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed more than words can express, but her family celebrates her life and is thankful to the Lord for the assurance that she is more alive now than she has ever been in the glories of heaven.

Lurline was preceded in death by her mother, Lurli Elizabeth Costilow Wolgamuth Mount Brown; her father, Everett Ashlock Mount, who died in World War II; her adoptive father, Will Allen Brown, her husband Jimmie Simon, her bother-in-law Dan Simon; and her youngest son, Paul Simon. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Simon Ray (Kevin Ray), and son, Ret. Col Mark Simon (Lora Simon); daughter-in-law, Christie Simon (Paul Simon, deceased); eleven grandchildren, Corbett Simon (Chelsea Simon); Ashley Ray Poole (Michael Poole); Chloe Simon; Camilla Simon McCulley (Dan McCulley); Kennedy Simon; Mallory Simon Kubala (Nate Kubala); Wesley Simon, Molly Simon, Makayla Simon, Jessica Simon and Katelyn Simon; two great granddaughters, Emersyn Poole and Gigi Simon; two sisters, Missy Brown Allen (Ken Allen) and Georganne Brown Wenger (Doug Wenger); and sister-in-law Theresa Simon (Dan Simon, deceased) and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

Pursuant to her wishes, the immediate family will have a small, private interment ceremony at St. James Catholic Cemetery, and the family will be having a celebration of her life at a later time when out of town family can be present.
