Howard Ellis Franklin

He was a native of Chauncey, West Virginia, and retired after 27 years from the United States Army where served in the Vietnam and Korean War as a drill sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Musco and Tellie Bailey Franklin; son-in-law, Tim Devore; sister, Juanita (Kenneth) Hughes; three brothers, Jim Franklin, Edgar Franklin, and Bubby Shepherd.

He is survived by his wife, Lona Fay Franklin; daughter, Kathy Lynn Devore; brother, Pete (Maggie) Shepherd; two sisters, Linda (Melvin) Smith and Billie Ann Franklin; two grandchildren, Whitney (Travis) England and Derek Devore; one great grandchild, Millie Kate England; his loving dog, Coco; and a host of many nieces and nephews.

The funeral is at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Raliegh Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday and continues after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
